Ralph Winter Forder, 99, died on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Lakewood Manor in Richmond, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary Ellen Rand Forder. He was the son of the late Ralph Waldo Forder and Mary Frances Winter Forder. A native of Baltimore, MD., he was a graduate of City Collage and the Baltimore School of the Bible. For 42 years, he was an employee of the Western Electric Company and served as a Safety Engineer for most of those years. His Red Cross training equipped him to teach First Aid courses at Western Electric and elsewhere. He was proud of his service with the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He had a lifelong love of baseball and continued to be a fan of the Baltimore Orioles. Mr. Forder was an active member of the Temple Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD, where he served faithfully in various capacities including Sunday School teacher of the Men's Fellowship Class which was later changed to Winter Forder Fellowship Class in his honor. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Winter Rand and Anne Toombs Forder; his two grandchildren, Bradley Rand Forder and his fiancee', Caitlin Carroll and Elizabeth Forder Lipstock and her husband, Seth; one great-grandchild, Jack Lipstock and a brother, Robert M. Forder. Mr. Forder has always been a walking definition of what it means to be a Christian in the family, at work and in the community. A funeral service will be held at Loudon Park Funeral Home and Cemetery in Baltimore at noon on Friday, June 16, 2017. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Lakewood Benevolence Fund, c/o Virginia Baptist Homes Foundation, 3961 Stillman Parkway, Glen Allen, VA. 23060. Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green is handling the arrangements.
